Seller Registration Rules

Recommended Posts

This is the "official" frag auction registration rules forum. Registration is for those selling corals. You must be a paid SWFMAS member to sell corals at the auction.

You do not need to be a paid member to buy corals at the auction. Registration to bid is the day of the auction and is open to all.

The Auction Registration Rules are:

•All corals must be registered by October 6th (10/06/2013).

•Registration consists of listing the corals for sale in this forum, posting pics is optional. (note, if you choose not to post pics, we will not post a sample pic for you. When your coral is auctioned, there will be no photo on the slideshow.) Deadline for posting pics is also October 6th

•If you choose not to post pics in this forum, they may be emailed to [email protected] Pictures should be no smaller than 1024 pixels wide x 768 pixels tall in PC .jpg format. (still due by October 6th (10/06/2013))

•Auction split is 75/25 (75% to the seller, 25% to SWFMAS)

•If you wish to have a minimum bid, please post it at registration

•There is a maximum of 3 corals, per type, per person (in other words, you may bring 3, Hollywood Stunner, not 4. Also, you may bring 3 green digitata, 3 red digitata and 3 purple digitata. You may not bring 4 of each color)

•There is a maximum of 50 corals per seller.

•There is a maximum of 10 corals per type. Once we hit 10 of a given coral, no more will be accepted. This is first come, first served.

•The auction maximum is 300 items 400 items. Once we hit 300 400, registration will be closed.

•Every year, we have a few corals donated to the club. As always, these are welcome and will be auctioned at the end. We request that you preregister donation corals. But, this is not a requirement. Donated corals do not count towards the 300 maximum.

We call this a frag auction. But, it is really a fundraiser for the club. Any marine livestock is acceptable. If you are raising clownfish, cardinals, etc., we would love to see them. In years past, we have auctioned, macro algae, fish, inverts and clean up crews.

Please use the following format to register livestock:

Quantity (how many frags are you bringing), Scientific name (if you know it), common name, minimum bid (if you have one)

For Example

3, Montipora digitata, Red digitata, No reserve

3, Montipora digitata, Green digitata, $5 each

1, Montipora delicatula, X-Factor cap, $10

1, Montipora delicatula, X-Factor cap, $20

1, Montipora delicatula, X-Factor cap, no reserve

If you are planning on submitting pictures to be displayed when your items are up for auction, please follow these guidelines:

- Format: PC formatted .jpg file

- Size: 1024 pixels wide x 768 pixels tall

- File name: [screenname]_[item#].jpg (where [screenname] is your forum screenname and [item#] matches the number of the item in the list you submit.)

When are we able to start sending lists in? As I have seen none listed in here, just wondering if this is where to post it or send it to Jeff.

Also "10 Corals per type" does that mean 10x any type of any Paly before no more are allowed or 10x "Specific paly/zoo" like 10x rasta 10x red hornets etc.

Thank you for your time :)/>

So you could bring 3 frags of rastas and 3 frags of red hornets.

The 10 corals per type is overall and is based on the order they are registered. Once 10 corals of the same type have been registered, no others will be accepted.

In the past others have started their own threads in the frag auction forum titled "Username's Registration Thread".

Matt and Jeff, please speak up on when to start registering and how and where to send photos and the size/format requirements of the photos.

We are still reviewing a few ideas and their logistics in order to accomodate our members and participants (buyers and sellers) in the best way possible with the huge number of registered items we received yesterday. As soon as we have a plan in place, we will update this post and the general information post as well as sending out a club email with regards to what we will be doing for the Fall Frag Auction.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you at the Auction and making it a great success!

The 2013 Fall Frag Auction is shaping up to be a fantastic event!

In light of the hugely successful coral registration (thank you to all our sellers!), we have decided to add an additional 100 corals to the auction, bringing the total number of items from 300 to 400, and to accomodate for this change, we will be starting the live auction at 10 am instead of 1 pm.

Unfortunately, in the rush to get items registered for the auction, we already have over 400 items registered, so coral registration will remain closed at this point.

Thanks and see you all at the Auction, and remember we also have Julian Sprung talking about Algae at our September meeting (details here)
