Our speaker will be Marco Prechel from Royal Exclusiv presenting information on Skimmers; how they work, types, maintenance, etc.

Marco Prechel is one of the founding members of the SouthWest Florida Marine Aquarium Society, and an Aquarist with over 10 years of experience in the hobby and Aquaria business.

First introduced to the hobby in his late teens, by his early twenties Marco co-founded the Club with Cristia Tuchbaum, Jeff D'huyvetter and Scott Spetich.

By his mid twenties Marco had over 1,500 gallons of Saltwater and 10-15 tanks, including a coral propagation system of 90 sqft growing area.

Over the years Marco upgraded his skimmers multiple times, testing both lighting and skimmers became a main focus of the never ending system changes. In the quest for the latest and greatest, Marco toyed and tested the latest designs in Needle Wheel, Mesh Wheel, Recirculating and Downdraft skimmers. As recirculating skimmers became popular, Marco experimented with anything from small HOB skimmers to large 5ft tall skimmers with Dart pump recirc pumps.

In 2015 Marco joined the Team at Royal Exclusiv USA to help run day to day operations at the US Headquarter in Fort Myers, providing support to the owners of Royal Exclusiv Products, fulfilling order and repair services.

Helping the renowned Skimmer Manufacturer distribute their line of High End German built Recirculating Skimmers, in the North & South American Market, as well as introduce products such as RedDragon 3 flow pumps and the popular Dreambox sumps.

We will hang out after the meeting at the park and have a Potluck BBQ.

The club has rented the Large Pavilion next to the Recreation Center for the day.

This is a "bring a side dish or dessert" BBQ. The club will provide burgers, dogs, drinks and condiments.

Thanks to Marco for his presentation at the meeting yesterday. It was nice to know that we have top class product in our area with local help. Also thank you for bringing in a few of your different models for us to look at. It is a lot nicer to see features in person vs looking a picture on the screen. I know I picked up a few helpful hints I can use with my skimmer going forward (cleaning Ideas, oils from hands, etc).

Being newer to the club it was also interesting learning a little bit about the history of the club.

Thanks to you and all the great volunteers we have.
