When you decide to take things off the site or put new things on. Tell everyone what it is and why. It is annoying to get on here and have stuff gone and no explanation. It seems unprofesional.

Submitted by abigtroutt on Mon, 2007-04-02 14:40.I'm glad for the removal of the LFS's bashing threads. Thanks to the Admin for the removal of it.
I personally felt it did not promote the positive aspects of this hobby. We all have good and bad with every store we deal with. I also felt it did not promote SWFMAS in a positive light.
I may be stepping out of line but I think we should all try to keep it up beat and and try to help each other with the good things we do and the mistakes we make relating to the hobby.
All of us should refrain from bashing any LFS or person on the site no matter how angry you feel about the issue. It does not build a positive relationship with any LFS. Someday this site may be a driving force in the local reefing community and stores may offer discounts to members....but not if we trash them.
Thank you (stepping down from my soap box)...........

Please do let one of us know when you feel like contributing to the site & local Club in a positive manor, not just by complaining & ranting on about LFSs and the site.
We will be holding our first get together soon - Hope to see you there.
Thank you,

To All Others:
Sometimes good intentions can go bad.
With that said ... the LFS Review forum was NEVER intened to be a bashing haven for members, but rather a review forum ... HOWEVER it turned out a little unexpected ...
Bill (abigtrout), Scott (keinreis) & I met for lunch and had a talk about this ... all 3 came to the same conclusion that the section needed to be taken down.
This forum is in NO way affiliated with any store. I, and others here would like to see the Local Stores chime in on here, and build a community - as Bill pointed out.

Submitted by keinreis on Mon, 2007-04-02 15:08.I agree with the 2 above. It was a good idea, but it was startiing to become a place that was causing friction. Like big Trout lets keep this a positive site, for meeting local reefers, and learning. but yes an anounced reason will be posted in the future.

Keeping a positive attitude
Submitted by Tim224DT on Tue, 2007-04-03 00:14.Keeping a positive attitude toward things is what keeps a board in a positive place. Bashing/flaming a place what good does it do? These LFS Directories were added to expand our knowledge of what other LFS are out there in the area that we might not have known about. I know living in Port Charlotte the only LFS in the area closing up it is nice to come here(swfmas.com) and see those in the list and know how to get to them when i am in the in area.

I was not complaining that
Submitted by fgcuboy on Tue, 2007-04-03 15:43.I was not complaining that you took the items down, I was just asking that you post something saying that they were taken down. Something to the order of, "Due to the way these forums were going, we decided to take them down..." I was offering constructive critism, not trying to rant and rave.

As I understand it, it seems that the main issue here is how you feel the issue was handled. Just remember the people who run the site are doing this for all of us and are doing it for free. The people involved with running the site have full time jobs and families.
The time frame from the removal of the threads and your comment was not even several hours and they did not have time to add a comment to explain the issue.
The main reason for the removal was the flaming that was started on one thread where personal attacks were exchanged. Then flaming started against the LFS’s and that doesn’t help any of us.
As for constructive criticism the word “unprofessional” does not seem to be constructive. The Admin appreciates any input here and have added things we have requested.
Everyone is welcome here and everyone’s opinion is a valued asset. If everyone’s emotions and personal feelings start getting in the way, we as a whole become just like every other club.
As individuals we can impact a group of people but as a group we can impact a community!
Thanks

Submitted by fgcuboy on Thu, 2007-04-05 21:03.I am sure that it is not a lot of trouble to write "LFS review taken off because it was getting out of hand". I think that the moderators should try and make this as profesional as possible. If you take the time to do something, why not make a simple post about it? Most things that get added are commented on, I just think that should be a theme that goes through out the board. I am not trying to step on toes, just trying to help.
Thank you
lets put this to rest before
Submitted by keinreis on Thu, 2007-04-05 21:16.lets put this to rest before it gets heated and I have to delete it also... just kiding. I had all plans on making a post, but this is a new software format then I am used to with the other boards I am a mod on, and while working on making the post I got a pressing phone call at work (which I should have been doing not browsing here) and got sidetracked. so yes it should be something I should have done, but other more importaint duties called and I had to deal with them first.
