Please only respond to the thread if you are posting corals/fish/inverts for preregistration to the Frag Event. Auction is limited to a maximum of 3 varieties of any give species per person. For example, 6, Red Acro, Acropora millepora is not acceptable. However, 3, Red Acro, Acropora millepora and 3, Green Acro, Acropora millepora is acceptable. Only post what you plan on bringing in one container. For example, if you are bringing 3 blue mushrooms in one container, that would be 1 bag of 3 mushrooms and would be considered one item. If you bring 3 blue mushrooms in separate containers, that would be considered three items. Please bag properly!!!!!!!!!! Please use the following preregistration format Your Name If there is no minimum bid, please put "NR", or "No Reserve" For example: Jeff D'huyvetter At the bottom of the registration, please state if you will be posting pics or not. We will have a separate photo gallery page for preregistered corals. __________________

I think SWFMAS needs to set
Submitted by sipusa on Tue, 2008-09-30 22:03.I think SWFMAS needs to set a total limit per person for the Frag Event, I have a feeling if some people bring close to 100 items, the auction takes forever and the fun is over soon. I still remember last years event, is was great but it tooked way to long....please remember, not everyone has time a whole day and night!
I will be happy to help out again, but my concern is if it takes til midnight.....
Way ahead of you on that
Submitted by jdhuyvetter on Wed, 2008-10-01 07:45.Way ahead of you on that one! The vendors (e.g. Reef Gardener) are setting up tables. They are donating a couple of frags for the auction but most of their corals are straight sales.
For the May, 2009 event, I will be setting up a table and not auctioning. I just posted up everything I had to start the ball rolling and generate some interest. This past March we had a lot of people wait to the last minute or show up at the event with a bunch of extra corals. We tried to discourage that by having a very, very good split with an early preregistration and a terrible split (for the seller) with late registration or at the door. If you'll look at the dates posted for the March event compared to now, it worked very well.
We had also discussed cutting me back if we got over 250 to 300 preregistered corals. That has not happened yet.
Stop forcing me to make announcements beforehand!!!!! (just kidding)

Submitted by bill boy on Wed, 2008-10-01 07:47.I agree about the length of time concerns. What is our plan for the auction? If we have 200 corals and each transaction takes 3 minutes thats 10 hours! Is my math correct? WOW!
Should we auction multiple items all at once to save time.

you guys have to remember
Submitted by keinreis on Wed, 2008-10-01 08:04.you guys have to remember that our last event did go till 9 at night, but the frag swap didn't start till 5. We are not having speakers and such at this event. It is a frag auction only. The auction starts at 1 and should not take more then 4 hours imo.

We had well over 250 corals
Submitted by jdhuyvetter on Wed, 2008-10-01 08:19.We had well over 250 corals at the last event and the auction took about 4.5 hours (including the room change). Works out to just over 1 minute per item. If we have enough volunteers, this event should go as fast or slightly faster.
If vendor tables work out, the May 2009 event will be a slightly different format. Livestock would be a mixture of sales tables and auction items.

Hi Everyone...sorry I've
Submitted by Cristina_j on Wed, 2008-10-01 19:08.Hi Everyone...sorry I've been MIA from the site for a while, My computer has been tempremental and I've started a new job...I am starting to put together the presentation for the Auction and would like everyone to make sure coral pictures are labeled with the following: Person's Name, Coral Name, How many you are bringing....
Please PM me if you are bringing (for example) 5 mushrooms on the rock or 5 individual polyps. Same with Zoo's.
We have removed my post due to the fact that I have a few pests in my tanks and am not willing to share them with the club. Sorry but I thought I was through with this, but the AEFW's are back with a vengance. Haven't seen any Monti eating Nudi's, but it doesn't mean they aren't there or their eggs aren't. I wanted to bring Zoo's since I'm starting to get so many but I spoke with the BOD and figured it is best to wait until my tank is healthy. Hopefully it will be for March 2009 since I have about 15 large Zoa frags in my two tanks.
Please watch your PM boxes as if I have questions I will be sending questions to you there.
We are also going to have a few Raffle Items, we had some left overs from the big companies and are bringing them with us.
Hope to see you all next Saturday.

Submitted by jdhuyvetter on Wed, 2008-10-01 20:10.In my case, each number represents the number of frags. The number of polyps will vary from frag to frag.
I know in Randy's case for the hairy mushrooms, it represents and individual polyp.

My name is Morgan Mok, I run Reef Gardener, Inc in Miami. I am planning to bring several types of aqua-cultured corals as well as a few wild colonies.
Here's a list of some of the things I'll be seeling this year: Various colors of florida ricordia, pink palythoa, various colors of zoanthids, neon green true palua singularia, green clove polyps, tricolor acropora, bonsai acropora, echinophyllia colonies, super blue acropora stag, green open brain, frogspawn, blue mushrooms, etc, etc.
I'm also thinking of bringing this to auction if anyone's interested:
