SWFMAS first annual Fall Frag Event will be held on October 11. Location and start time will be confirmed later this week. This event will consist of a raffle of coral colonies and LFS gift certificates. Auction will be "livestock" only. Auction format will be a powerpoint pic with the auction item (just like the last one). However, the auction order will be different. Preregistered coral will be "randomly shuffled". That way there will be a mix of sellers and corals. Last preregistered coral will not necessarily be the last coral sold. Preregistration deadline is October 8. Corals will be welcomed after that date and the day of the event, however, there will be no pictures for the powerpoint and these corals will be auctioned last. The following auction split will apply: 80/20 if you preregister corals before September 10 Preregistration includes pictures!!!!! For example, if you preregister a coral list on September 21 but don't submit pictures until October 1, that would be a 60/40 split. If you don't have pics, please state no pics on the entry. If you are a seller, you will need to be onsite a minimum of one hour before auction time so we can label corals and put them in order of the auction. WE NEED ABOUT 6-8 VOLUNTEERS FOR THE AUCTION. ONLY VOLUNTEERS WILL BE ALLOWED TO HANDLE THE CORALS, (until it is sold, then it is your baby!). We don't want any last minute mix ups of corals or breakage. __________________

Here's some recent pics of our prop systems, we've been growing like crazy. ;]
We have limited space to grow in so we try to use every square inch in our prop tanks. All these tanks are in one room and we have no display tank. All of our tanks have no center braces and only the 6x2.5 tank has euro-bracing.
1: 2.5x6'x15" deep Left side 400w 14k Reeflux MH, right side 175w 14k Iwasaki MH (burns more like a 12 or 10k) with Lumenbrite reflectors. We have one return outlet towards the left center of the tank and two large powerheads on each end so all areas of the tank get lots of circular flow. Our photo-period is 12 hrs and we feed the tanks about 3 times per day.
2: 2x3'x14" deep. This started out as more of a holding tank that I now use to grow out a lot of softy frags. We will be upgrading the lights to MH soon as it just has 4 T5's at the moment.
3. 3x5x15" deep. Part of this tank has a built in sump like the first tank. Lighting 1: 250w 14k Phoenix HQI, really needs to be changed. Out of the three tanks, this one holds the most of our "display" stuff. However we will be switching this tank over to prop only within the next month or so.

To Marco, Christina, Jeff,
Submitted by ronreefman on Sun, 2008-10-12 06:12.To Marco, Christina, Jeff, Scott and everybody else who helped out with the auction,
Thanks for a great event! Most of you may not know me now as I am pretty new to the club. But I intend to become much more active and look forward to getting to know everybody. Everybody I met yesterday was friendly and helpful. And despite the event running kind of long, everybody was still in good spirits right up till the end (I left with just a few items to be auctioned off). And I recognize that after the event was over, there was still work to be done cleaning up the facility and such. Next time I hope you guys will know me better and invite me in (drag me kicking and screaming) to help out. Now that I can put faces with a few of the names here at the website, I'll be a little more active and look forward to the next meeting. Thanks again.

PS. Marco, let me know when you get my membership card printed and I'll make arrangements to pick it up. I'd love to see your aquarium(s).
