i wanted to do this sometime

i wanted to do this sometime early this year, or last year .. cannot remember when exactly .. but we did not have tremendous interest. not enough to waste our 1 tie shot at this ... i figured we'd wait & do it when there is a bit more interest to make to worthwhile for everyone.

hey, umm, not intending to

hey, umm, not intending to piss anyone off, but what kind of discount are we talking here. I looked at their site and see many items alot lower priced elswhere. Just curious.

I'm not sure on the exact

I'm not sure on the exact discounts AFAIK, it varies on the product.

Quote:
Here is how it works: For one week we upgrade every member of your club who signs up and creates an account with special "Club Wholesale" status. This gives them individual access to the maximum quantity discounts without quantity requirements on all of our bulk material as well as considerable discounts on much of our product line. Each member of the club handles their own order individually. There is no need to organize the order, schedule a pickup/distribution day, and collect payment.

Group buys can be a hassle to organize. We designed our new site to be as group buy friendly as possible and eliminate as much of the hassle as possible. Most of our products quantity discounts displayed in the product description. Discount tiers are designed to be easy to achieve. This removes the need to contact us with a product list and negotiate prices and discounts. Your club or group simply needs to make a list of what they want and designate one person to make the purchase. This greatly speeds up the process of organizing the group buy.

In addition to the quantity discounts we will refund 15% of the shipping costs if the order totals over $500 and 20% if the order totals over $1000.

I'm not sure how competitive their pricing is, I have not checked out their prices compared to other sources - If you know where to purchase some of the products they sell for cheaper, post it up Smiling

I really NOT in the habit of

I really NOT in the habit of stepping on toes. And I do beleive in supporting your local stores. But, with the economy being as it is, everyone is careful about spending. NO, I'm not a tight wad, (that depends on who ya talk to). Like most, I live week to week, If I can save on an item, and apply that to another then I'm doing it. I learned my lesson on buying the cheaper one, that actually wasn't cheaper. (7.00 hydrometer, when i started in this hobby) And as for finding the SAME item lower somewhere else, I will post it up. PLEASE remember I don't mean to step on toes. SORRY for rambling on. I am saving to order a ro/di system from the same comp I have ordered before from. $150.00 incl ship, 110gal per day, 6 stage, dual output,(spigot for drinking water&line for aquarium)2.5gal stor tank and guage. only thing not included is a tds meter. If anyone is interested email me,and i'll give you the info.
Thanks, Pat

Pat, I fully agree with you

Pat,

I fully agree with you ... right now is a tough time in the economy for just about everyone. It is your money, and you should do the best to save where you can to support whom & what you have to support. This does include price shopping, and purchasing places other than the local stores if need be.
I have been going to some stores & asking them if they can come close to what i can buy it for from online vendors w/ shipping. Some of the store owners have been OK with this, They may only be making $5-10 off an item, but at least they are making a little bit. The local stores are businesses, and in a way, I am a business as well - I need to make money to pay my expenses & be able to provide food for the fam.

I will support the local stores all i can, as long as it makes financial sense to me. I am unable to give Freddy G @ Blue Light Aquatic LFS $100 for an item i can purchase online for $65 shipped to my door - some may not want to hear me say that as club president, but at the end of the day, Freddy G doesn't pay my mortgage, and neither does anybody else in the club.

BTW, I have some gift certificates for Air Water Ice that I won @ the Open House ... not sure if you've looked at ordering from them or not ... but i'd be more than willing to sell them for $0.75 to the $1
