Good Morning - seems like everyone is slowly waking up from yesterdays reefathon. (reef marathon) Smiling

I'd like a say a few things about yesterdays event. The following are MY feelings and views, I'm not speaking for the club.

1. The turn-out was great.
2. It was nice meeting all of you, putting a face to a name, and chatting with the few that i did have time to chat with.
3. The location I think was good, it worked out well. It was an open, and relaxed setting.
4. Besides a few hick-ups here & there, the event went over pretty smooth.

I'm not happy about a few things that happen yesterday:
5. Member checking - We missed to print a few registered member's card. I will be looking into this in the next few days, and get them printed. I was responsible for getting the names over to scott for printing, and somehow they didn't arrive @ scotts in the spreadsheet. Between this, and being unorganized at the members checking ... it didn't go as I expected.

6. I think we put on one heck of a show yesterday, HOWEVER we didn't introduce the club like I had previously hoped, but forgot. We should've gone over who we are, what we're about, and introduced the BOD.

------------------------

And I'd like to thank EVERYBODY that came to the event - this wouldn't have been possible w/out all of you!

As for helping out, setting up, and organizing this event:
Scott (keinreis)
Cristina (cristina_J)
Jeff (jdhuyvetter)
Steve (scarter85)
Jeff's Mom
My Mom
Lisa (lisaFL)
There are soo many more that helped out, little or alot - it all helped!

We had a great turnout on the sponsor side, of course without all of them this event wouldn't have been possible. We received great support from our local fish stores. Please support them in return - they all are part of this event, and helped make it happen!
The brightwell aquatics rep was at the event, and donated a good amount of stuff - Reef Marticulture sent their stuff after the owner came down with the flu and was unable to attend. Tunze sent stuff, and so many more - Thank You!

OK - Breakfast time.

Take care,

marco

This was my first

This was my first meeting/event with SWFMAS and I thought it was great! Being a newbie in this, I thought the speakers topics were applicable. Esp. Sprungers. I've read some of his contributions in books and they are very informative and interesting. I look forward to attending future events and would like to thank everyone for their hard work that put this together. = )

I thought the event went

I thought the event went very well. All the volunteers did a great job putting everything together.

Speakers were very friendly and had interesting slideshows. Sadly i didn't get to listen to both of them because i was selling raffle tickets, and moving items into the auction room.
The location was pretty good i thought. It was extremely nice of them to let us stay that late in the auction room.

Thanks to all the sponsors and fish stores that donated, and came out to support us.

I am definitely looking forward to next year's event! =]

More "Thank You"s for

More "Thank You"s for helping out go to:
Randy & Diane Blemke
Chris - djchristyle1
Raul - rochilles
Sandy - (Cristinas mom) - Mailladyfmb

A HUGE Thank You goes out to Bishop Verot High School & Kurt Prey for providing the location for this great event and allowing us to go over our reserved time, staying till 9.20PM & doing as much work as he did with arranging, and running around for us.

Again, this event wouldn't have been possible without all of you guys coming out & supporting the local club, and allowing us to provide further educational events for the young, and the young at heart.

Other than the few hiccups

Other than the few hiccups that mostly only volunteers knew about I feel the event went better than expected. We had an awesome turn out, and over 200 pieces of coral went to new homes last night.

Thank you everyone for having patience with me at auction checkout.

Unfortunately I was unable to listen to the speakers as I was busy with coral check-in and organization for the auction. What I was able to listen to I did find to be very informative.

I want to thank everyone for coming and hope you all had as good as of time as I had. I look forward to remeeting you all at future club events and meetings.

Thank you especially to Steve, Lisa, Simone & Sandy for all your help with the auction. I could not have done it without you.

See you all April 20 at Mote.

As a new member, I just

As a new member, I just would like to comment that I thought you all did a great job. The work done to set up the show, obtaining good speakers, getting support of manufacturers and local fish stores certainly paid off and resulted in a great turn out. I think if there were any glitches at the meet, few noticed.

The only negative I have is it would have been nice to learn more about the club, the board and any others that are working to make the club work, and what your plans are for the future, including future events. Perhaps a post on here can get that information out.

I really did enjoy it though, and my tank benefitted greatly from some great items obtained in the auction. Thank you to all involved.

Yes I thought all went good and the next time we do this i think many more people will take it much more serious due to the turn out we had this time.
(Stores and people)

I wish i did not have to go to work so i could have picked up more coral and fish!!! (I had to leave around 7:00 dam it!!) I also thought the auction had some great peices and I Hope everyone enjoyed the great prices and opertunity to upgrade your tank.

Thanks to anyone that made this happen!! Now to get ready for future events!

The lack of club

The lack of club introduction was my fault. I was bagging corals all morning and did not get there until noon. I had a 15 minute introduction prepared for the club, speakers and event sponsors. However, when I got there I was informed of the scheduling conflict with the school (we had to be out of the cafeteria room by 5 ish). I immediately went to the speaker to see about moving them up in time and not having a question and answer session to save time. After that was worked out, I was told we had another room that might be available. Went to look at that and started moving classroom furniture to accomodate the club.
Next thing I knew, it was about 10 til 1 p.m. and time to get started.

We thought it was fun and

We thought it was fun and interesting. All the things missed will come out in the long run. If it happens again I'm going ahead with a lawsuit. (just kidding) I thought they were minor issues. For us it was worth the trip! And we look forward to many more. At any rate my hat is off to all involved in the event. See Ya at Mote! Pat & Sue
