What kind of SPS coral, if any, would survive under 110watt VHO super Actinics? Theres four of them. It's a 90ga tank in case you need to know. Thanks! Will __________________

Submitted by wiszmaster on Thu, 2008-01-31 22:01.I'm going to assume until he responds that his 90g is a 48" tank ... and 48" VHO bulbs are 110w (if I'm not mistaken) ... my guess would be he has ~440w total of VHO's.
But with VHO actinics, i'm not sure how much PAR they actually do put out.
My opinion ... what I would feel comfortable with in a lower than optimal light setting ...

I personally would also add Montipora capricornis to the list, but many would beg to differ ... I've had good luck with it in lower light areas.

Submitted by jdhuyvetter on Thu, 2008-01-31 23:03.I agree with Marco on the Montiporas. They will probably do ok higher up in the tank but not show their best color. My red cap stays nice and bright under metal halides or pc's. My frag tank has about the same watts per gallon as your VHO's. All my SPS's grow well under these lights, but don't show great color.....except my red montipora cap. My green cap grows, but is not as bright as under MH. I would add Seriatopora to the mix as well. My green polyp birdsnest holds color and grows well under my pc's. My pink turned brown with greenish polyps.
