I wanted to get the dates posted so people can plan. Also this is the weekend before Father's Day.

Ok let the fun begin! I am searching hotels in Islamorada. Most rates are higher than we like. Around 200 per night. On place I found can give us a 2 bedroom suites for that rate. My question is do you think people could double up for a 2 bedroom suite? It has a full kitchen and washer and dryers.

Also let me know the price range you would be willing to spend. Also if you know of any hotels that can house us please let me know and I will check them out as well.

Matt and I are planning on going. We typically head down Friday after work and try to grab late dinner in the keys. We will join the club snorkeling and some other members for a dive trip. Do we have a snorkel location yet? Sometimes they have discounts at hotels when you have reservations on a snorkel trip.

Yes we do. I have the snorkel info and will post that be Friday. I just need to zero in on a hotel. Finding rooms but they are around 200 per night. I have found condo style 2 bedroom suite for around 230 per night if people can double up.

The moment you have all been waiting for! Here is the snorkeling info for the 2017 SWFMAS Keys trip. We will be going to a new sites this year. The options are Hen and Chickens, Pickles, Davis Ledge, Petes Reef, Snapper Ledge, Alligator Reef and a few others. The boat will decide based on visibility and weather. We have not been to any of these reefs with the club yet. The cost of the snorkel trip will be $37.00 per person. This includes any gear. The rate does not change if you have your own gear. We will put up a link to pay for the trip shortly. Do not call and book with them as we have booked as a group and will be collecting as the club.

We also have a drive trip at the same location planned for after the snorkel trip. That will cost $68 for the dive trip. This includes tanks and weights. Any other gear they do rent.

There are a few hotels right there in key largo. Key West inn, holiday inn, and courtyard. Lower to better quality. They are all on the canal with dive/snorkeling boats. There is also a great sushi place in front of Bayside inn. It's a dive but food has been really good in the past. Ocean pointe is good place to stay but not much around the area. You have to drive to get every where. It is a timeshare/ condo/ hotel setup so sometimes you get nice update rooms and sometimes you get older need updating rooms

I will ask the BOD and get back to you but I would try to pay soon as the dive trip has limited spots. I will be paying next week for everything.

Is anyone plan on going snorkeling to collect stuff to bring home? I know this is not possible to do this on the chartered snorkeling trip. I would like to see if i could tag along.

Thanks

John Reynolds

Some of us will. Make sure you have your fishing license and educate yourself on what you are allowed to collect. We have some members that will be going that will help out. Not sure where yet but we will find a place.

Well while everyone if the Fort Myers area got rained out we did not! We had a blast! Great snorkeling and diving. Went to new reefs that we have not been on before. Dive shop was great and I would recommend them if anyone wants to go down to snorkel or dive. Had a great dinner at Marker 88 with everyone. I did not take any pics though. We had a first timer and he did great. I think he got the bug now. Time to plan another trip for fun! I have another spider bite so I did not do any collecting on Sunday. John and Charlie went out by the hotel but was not much there. Then they drive down to the horseshoe and had better luck for critters. While on the trips we saw a few nurse sharks, a large green eel, and a large sea turtle swam by. It was great. I wish I would have had the Go Pro but if I did he would not have swam by it I would have missed it messing with the camera. The eel was out swimming around us. I am sure there will be more to come.

You should not have missed this one!
